Kona Skatepark offers several options for FREE and discounted skating with its weekly specials. This skateboarding venue peaks the interest of children, teens and adults, thanks to its reputation as the country’s largest outdoor skate park. In addition to open skating, Kona conducts boarding lessons for all levels of skaters and holds skate camps in the spring and summer. Make sure you come out to watch a competition or two.
Kona is open every day of the week, though its hours vary. Come skate from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The park stays open an hour later on Fridays. Grab your board and skate from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturdays. Try a kick flip or an ollie from noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays, or get some tips from one of the park’s instructors or skate mentors.
Monday is Ladies’ Night. All women skate for FREE after 6 p.m. Every other day, and Mondays prior to 6 p.m., women skate for just $3.
Tuesday is Grom Night. Kids under 12 years old skate for only $5 after 6 p.m. Instructors are ready to lead sessions introducing new tricks and tips. These skaters can participate in mini contests and win prizes.
Wednesday is Old School Day. Skaters 30 years and older skate for just $5 all day.
Thursday is College Night. Skating is just $5 after 6 p.m. for anyone with a college ID.
Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., new skaters can participate in a FREE group ice breaker lesson. This class is meant for those who have never skated before and teaches skateboarding basics.
In addition to the above weekly specials, Kona offers other incentives to skaters. Parents skate FREE every day of the week when paying for their child to skate. Want to reward your children for good grades on their report card? Bring them to Kona. Students who receive A’s and B’s on a report card skate for five consecutive days for FREE. Any who receive A’s, B’s and C’s receive one day of skating for FREE.
