Free Outdoor Music In Sarasota

Enjoy free outdoor performances of live bands along the bayfront of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota.

The FridayFest music events are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on some Fridays in September. For information, phone 941-953-3368.

Here are some other free and cheap activities, thanks to a round-up from the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau.

* Yoga for beginners is offered free on Siesta Key beach Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. For details, e-mail yogaonsiesatabeach@yahoo.com.

* Canoe rides on South Creek at Oscar Sherer State Park are offered Wednesdays. The cost includes $4 park fee and canoe rental. Phone 941-485-5956 for information.

* Hike at Myakka Rivera State Park, which offers free admission and 39 miles of trails.

* Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. The market is at Lemon Avenue and Main Street. Admission is free.
