| September 24, 2009

It seems the free FridayFest outdoor performances originally presented as running through October are already done for this year.

So skip that particular music event, at least for now.

However, the other free and cheap activities sent in by the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau are be good.

* Yoga for beginners is offered free on Siesta Key beach Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. For details, e-mail yogaonsiesatabeach@yahoo.com.

* Canoe rides on South Creek at Oscar Sherer State Park are offered Wednesdays. The cost includes $4 park fee and canoe rental. Phone 941-485-5956 for information.

* Snag $2-off coupons to various attractions, including G.WIZ Science Museum, South Florida Museum and Bishop Planetarium, Historic Spanish Point and Sarasota Jungle Garden. The Days of Discovery coupon is available on this website.

* Hike at Myakka Rivera State Park, which offers free admission and 39 miles of trails.

* Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. The market is at Lemon Avenue and Main Street. Admission is free.
